Monday mornings usually find me happily doing household chores. Today I found that baking soda is the best cleaner that I have ever used on my stainless steel sink...it shines. And Murphy's Oil Soap on the cabinets, desks and wash stand...can't beat it, plus I just love the fresh smell it leaves behind. I also cleaned the windows in the living room and kitchen and Tomer took down the blinds, scrubbed them and hung them out back to dry in the sun. Tomorrow, we will tackle the bedroom windows and blinds.
Since the cooler weather has seemed to settle in and the days are getting shorter. I am now looking inside my home and preparing for winter projects. More painting and maybe a little re-do in the living room. Nothing elaborate but a change of color would certainly be nice. Recovering the throw pillows and new curtains are thoughts but not an absolute.
I could go on and on. I reckon, because I was blessed to be a housewife and stay at home Mama, this place has always been the center of my life.
"Taking care of what you have, keeping things neat and tidy" Daddy said "honors the Lord." And I feel, it shows gratitude for the things that He has blessed me with. Certainly much more than I have ever deserved. Not as much as some...but everything I need. I have never known hunger or lacked anything. God has blessed me, given me a husband who takes care of us all. And Daughters and their families to share our days with. As the years of my life go quickly by, I am thankful for everyday, every chore accomplished...and for love...for surely the greatest of these is love.
Love to all!

I had a very busy day yesterday and am happy to be home and settled in for today. It's been cool and rainy and is cool again today, but the sun is finally showing itself. I pulled my lap quilt from the closet and am sipping a nice cup of coffee...life is good.
I left the house yesterday morning and headed off for my Mammogram/Ultra Sound. Yippee! It wasn't bad and I pray that I am finished for another year.
After that we did the grocery shopping, which we dreaded. But, for a Friday afternoon, it wasn't too crowded. Hallelujah! We actually got through in a jiffy and what a pleasant young man took care of us as we checked out! Ran home, got everything organized and put away. Then it was on to Gander Mountain for a new Quiver (holds arrows) for my Tomer...who is in Bronson today with our Son-in-law and 3 of the Grandbabies. I have the day to myself. Could do anything I like but am not feeling well. So, all that's been accomplished is the scrubbing of the bathroom and some laundry.
Back to yesterday...we ended the day by eating at Burger King, stopping to rent a couple of movies and then our final stop was JoAnn Fabric. Tomer needed a zipper for his Camo Parka and that is the only reason he went along! I browsed the aisles and Ooh, they have out all of the Fall Decor!!! Now, I find myself anxiously awaiting the day that I can haul up all of my storage bins and bring Autumn to my home...Mums, wreaths, pumpkins, scarecrows, indian corn, candles, garlands of leaves, etc., etc.! And of course, I didn't get out of there without making a purchase. I bought myself a new wall hanging for the bathroom...doesn't take much to make this ol' gal happy! Don't you just love the colors of Autumn? So bright and cheery! Well, enough of my rambling.
Pray all is well!
Love to All!
This song has been running around my mind...hence my title!

Grandma & Grandaddy Carter...she left precious memories.
The word Grammy is not just a noun...person, place or thing. It is a verb...action word. And Grammy's help shape the world. Oh, yes we do! We teach life lessons, correct wrong behavior and love after correction.
We feed, bathe and clothe little ones. We wipe dirty faces, runny noses and bottoms when in diapers or potty training. We are chauffeurs, chefs and referees. Oh, and surely, nurses with no degrees.
We laugh, cry and hope for their futures. We pray for their souls and show them Jesus. All with a common goal, expecting nothing in return.
We love unconditionally, doesn't matter the cost. Storing up memories enough to last a lifetime. So, that long after we are gone. They will know, just how important they are. Because, they found love and acceptance in Grammy's arms.
Love to all!

Ahhh...the beach. It was a perfect day. Not too hot and not too cold, with the breeze kicking up I even wore a jacket for awhile. But nothing stopped those Grandbabies from heading to the water!
Elek loved the sand and sitting in the waters edge. We had to watch the boy because he kept trying to suck on the rocks...and everytime he would put one to his mouth we would hear him saying to himself..."Oh, no."
Let's eat...Maddy enjoying our picnic lunch. Give the gal a dill pickle and some chips and she's a happy little beach bum.
I even ventured down to the edge of the water with Kell and enjoyed the damp sand beneath my feet. It was such a relaxing pleasant time.
Can't leave the Waterloo Recreation Area without a stop in the park on the way back to the parking lot.
Headed for home, everyone happy and tired. All 5 of the Grandbabies were fast asleep in no time. What a glorious day!
Love to All!

Tomorrow morning..early. Tomer and I will be busy loading up the car with sand toys, row boats and a picnic basket full of goodies. Our girls and the grandbabies will be joining us on a little jaunt to Waterloo State Park for a little fun in the sun and sand. The kids love the beach, me...not so much. But, I will have my trusty book on hand, just in case I have time to get in a little reading.
The grandbabies, are excited. And a day spent with them, as my sweet Mom-in-law always said "is what makes life worth living."
Yes, tomorrow we will be busy making memories and when we are gone, they will remember...how very much we love them!
Love to All!

Rainy San Francisco...Thomas Hawk's Digital Photoblog
They...the weathermen, are calling for rain. Doesn't mean that we will get any because it seems that most storms pass North of here. We could surely use it though, for it has been hot and muggy this past week. The sun intense and quickly wilting the plants if not frequently tended to.
So, our Spiritual Lives if we fail to give them proper attention. Tending to them by Praying, reading God's Word and being bathed by the Holy Spirit. Oh, physically we would survive spiritual drought...unlike plants that would surely die. But like those plants, we will wither up and become ugly versions of ourselves. When waiting on the One who created us makes all things beautiful.
We are God's garden and with roots firmly planted...we should bring forth fruit. Are you blooming where you are planted? Or are you just a thorny vine?
Love to all!

Papa getting ready to take our 4 oldest Grandbabies to the Metro Parks for a little bike riding and lunch. While they were gone this ol' Grammy used my time wisely and got some cleaning and laundry done...I just love cleaning when I am all by my lonesome. Nothing more relaxing to me.
Bye Bye everyone...enjoy the lunch I packed and come home really tired...lol They rode 10 miles on those trails and it was hot!
Have fun...the crying started before they even left the drive-way cause Em whacked Xavie upside the head...she said there was a bug on his forehead!!! Hmmm...
Fall Ball has begun...does anyone know why they call it Fall Ball? It starts in August and ends before fall has arrived!! Any hoo...this is our Maddy on 3rd base. Oh, and they won!!!
The boys Ian and Elek sharing Pizza...I think that the Concession Stand is the highlight of the games for these two. Isn't it an amazing thing to watch our Grandbabies grow up? What Blessings they are!

Hibiscus the size of dinner plates...
Passion plant...I anxiously await these blooms...sweet memory of my late brother-in-law Mike.
When I was taking the photo of this Bee, Xavie came along and asked " Grammy what are you doing?" I answered " Gram's taking pictures of all these Bees" and he quips "Did they say cheese?" That boy cracks me up!
It is a cool, damp morning. And I am, of course sitting on our back porch enjoying my first cup of coffee. Summer is winding down and the landscapes are changing. Some of our perennials are finished for the season while others are
here until the frost gets them as the cold weather arrives. There are lots of black eyed susans, hibiscus and passion plants...their pretty faces lifted towards the sky. Which this morning is gray with no sign of the sun peeking out...yet.
So, I am enjoying some peaceful, alone time. Which won't last long, since I expect Em and Xavie to come busting through the gate at any time. Then, I assure you, all signs of tranquility will be long gone.
This ol' Grammy hasn't had much to say lately. My mind is occupied and every time I sit down to write, I end up thinking to myself...don't feel like blogging at the moment and off goes the computer. So, if you don't find me here for awhile...don't dismay. LOL... But rest assured I will be checking on all of you. I pray God's blessings in your lives. Much Love!

This was posted on my Facebook this morning by my cousin Wendy...Lord, right now I feel anguish for this world. Signs of your coming everywhere. The Government takeovers leading to the mark of the beast...God, forgive me. Help me to hit my knees in anguish over those who are fooled by a sense of Christianity that asks nothing of them...Help us Lord?

Daddy and Bobby at the Carter family reunion 1996
Hey Ya'll...yes, I have already started using my Southerndrawal! Doesn't take me long. Kell, always laughs at me cause I start twanging so quickly...maybe, it's got something to do with my being born here and living here for the first 3 years of my life! Anyways, things are going pretty good, Mama is hobbling around looking like Herman Munster in her big ol' black boot! I am keeping myself busy, cleaning, laundrocizing and cooking! Made fried chicken and potato salad yesterday, today is stuffed cabbage and peach cobbler.
My sister and hubby are coming up for a visit. Later this evening I will visit the cemetery and have a chat with my Daddy...I miss him soo!!! Thank God in His wisdom for He worked things perfectly... so that my Tomer and I could get here quickly and be a help to my brother Bobby. Pray you are all well...I can't always get online since they are working on things down in these hills. we have experienced intermittent periods of no service...sigh. Blessings...hope to check in later.
Love to All!

Can't wait to see these signs!
Please pray for Tomer and I as we make the journey home to Tennessee? We were going for a visit later in the week. But my brother called today with the news that Mama fell and broke her foot. So, we will leave tomorrow that way I can take her to the Orthopedic Dr. on Wednesday and my brother won't have to miss another day of work.
Blessings...talk to you next week sometime.
Love to all!
