Sunday Scripture

I will lift up my eyes to the hills...From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1

Conversations

WARNING... this is all in fun. The names have been changed to protect the innocent. It is fiction...if you see yourself here...believe me it was unintentional!

In my 57 years I have seen alot of changes. Not just in modern technology, but in people. It is rare nowadays to have a stimulating conversation. I find most shallow at best, in this ME, Me, Me, and Gimme, Gimme society that we live in.

Just sit and listen...Oh, that outfit is sooo cute! Thanks, but I think it makes me look fat!!!
Your hair color looks different, did you change it? Yes, but I'm not sure if I like it or not. But did you notice, that I've lost 11 teen zillion pounds!? Honey, I could tell as soon as you walked in. You look wonderful!

Hey girls, what creams do you use for wrinkles? I am looking soo old and just take a look at these saggy arms...Maybe liposuction. What d'ya think?

I'm getting a new chair. That's nice...I'm remodeling my whole house. Then I want a new car and don't forget a Partridge in a Pear tree!

Whew! Sometimes it's hard to follow! And don't talk Politics or Religion. Don't read anything that betters your mind. Oh, wait...what's this? A Woman's Day magazine...make-up tips for Summer. Perfect!

Pure Bliss

This is where we spent Saturday...in the yard! Tomer happily planting! Don't you love his hat?

The patio where we stop for a rest and enjoy an Arnold Palmer or two. Don't gasp, it's half lemomade and half iced tea...NO booze passes our lips!

Come on in...this walkway from the gate, leads to our side door. Welcome!

After a long day, we are heading indoors.

As we enjoy the sunset, Tomer, softly says "red sky at night a Sailors delight." A perfect ending, to our perfect day!

Cream or Sugar

When warm weather arrives, Tomer and I find ourselves at McDonald's Drive-thru...several nights during the week. We always order the same thing every trip and enjoy our leisurely ride home. Sipping coffee and licking on ice cream cones...small pleasures, make life wonderful.
So, we pull up...the guy asks "may I take your order?" Tomer answers "yes, can I have 2 vanilla ice cream cones, 1 large coffee with 2 creams and 1 small black coffee, please?" Then surprisingly, the McDonald's guy asks "would you like any cream or sugar in that black coffee?" Huh??? Tom, who is normally pretty quick witted and even snide at times, was actually dumbfounded! Just sitting there with his mouth open...looking puzzled and at a loss for words. So, I finally pipe up, NO, it's black!!! Oh, Lord...I got the giggles and could not stop laughing. Then of course, it's contagious! So, we are sitting in line, laughing hysterically. And as it's nearing our time to pick up our order. Tomer says..."trish, we have to stop laughing. We'll embarrass the poor guy!" Sure, that's going to be easy...Not! I had to look the other way, so that he didn't see me...I was still laughing. I felt kind of bad...but black coffee, is just that, black coffee. No cream, no sugar. So this ol' gal giggled the rest of the way home...cause the look on Tom's face, when the guy asked "cream or sugar in that black?" Was priceless.

Remembering And Grateful

Since Tomer is a Viet Nam Vet, I thought that I would start here. Sadly, these Soldiers came home scorned and criticized. I saw first hand the changes that war brings to a persons soul...36 years later...he remembers.

The first time we visited the Wall, it was as if we were standing on Holy Ground. The sights, the sounds. People just standing, staring at a name or seeing the boots and medals of a fallen Soldier, left in his memory. My Tomer, just walked with tears streaming down his face...choking back the sobs that he tried so to control. We, have been here again and the experience was no less moving...55,000 names on a Wall...we remember and are so grateful.

The World War II Monument...In memory of my Daddy who went to war a young boy of 17 and came home a man...forever changed by the horrors seen. But until the day he died...PROUD of what was accomplished...Freedom.

The marker provided by our government to all of the veterans...this lies at the foot of Daddy's grave...as he requested.

My soldier, Tomer putting a new flag on Daddy's grave...Since I can't be in Tennessee to visit your grave Daddy...I will honor you here. I love you and am proud to call you Daddy...I miss you and am so grateful. And Thank you Lord...for we are one Nation under God, indivisible...with liberty and justice for all...I pray that you have mercy on us and heal our land.
Amen

Drama Queen

Last night, Kell, the boys and I battled our way through rush hour traffic, to Auburn Hills. It is normally about an hours drive, but it took us an hour and 40 minutes. Whew! Thankfully, we arrived safely, with 20 minutes to spare. And just as we were turning into the parking lot...Kell's phone rings and it is guess who? Yep, it's Mad asking "where are you?"

Madison and best pal Monik hanging out before their dramatic performance. It was Trillium Academy and several other Charter School's (that belong to the same group) Performing Arts night. Each School, had art work on display, and performances from their show choir, drama and orchestra's. What a bunch of talented kids...Awesome!

Madison and Monik , during their dramatic piece. Do you think that this ol' grammy was proud??? Maddy has always been a drama queen! When only about 3 years old... her favorite movie was "Singing in the Rain." And whenever asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she would answer, without hesitation..."I am going to be on Broadway!"

Madison, with the ribbon that she received for her part, in last night's performance.
She can add it to the rest of her collection...softball, cheerleading, basketball, swimming and now...drama.

Get us home Kell...leaving the parking lot of the Apostolic Church, where the events of the evening were held. McDonald's here we come...Maddy needs ice cream and it sounded good to me!. What a wonderful evening!

The Long Road Home

I thought I'd share a few photo's of my trip home last month...these are some landmarks that mark our way. This is Rock Solid Church in Ohio...some living in this area, are calling the sculpture of Jesus an eyesore and want it removed.

Fort Campbell Kentucky, home of the 101st Airborne Division...this is where my Daddy was sworn into the Army. He re-enlisted after the War and ended up spending his last few months stationed here. Just 50 miles or so from home...right on the Tennessee/Kentucky border.

When we hit the Riverfront in Clarksville we breathe a sigh...we call this the big city. Where the people, from surrounding small towns, come for everything.
I am almost home!

Sportsmans Market...where Tomer spends time buying snacks or checking in Turkey's after a successful hunt.

The road through Erin...leads to the Ridge. Where the Musser family, has lived since before I was born. I am home!

3. Spring...the smells, the rain, the sunshine...all of God's creation coming to life...the landscapes and all their glorious colors!

4. Road trips...just put Tomer and I in a car to anywhere...Joy!

5. Watching the Grandbabies as they grow...each phase...every experience...being an active part of their lives...Wow!

6. My home...a place where I find refuge...a place that shelters me and where I am loved.

7. Tennessee...the red dirt of that land, beckons me still.

John 7:37-38

Armed Forces Day

"UNITED IN STRENGTH"
President Harry S. Truman led the effort to establish a single holiday for citizens to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country.
On August 3, 1949, Secretary of Defense, Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to replace separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force Days.
The single celebration stemmed from the unification of Armed Forces under on department--the Department of Defense.
To all of the men and women who have served and to those that are serving still...I thank you!

5. I limit myself to 3 cups of coffee a day....LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!

The Joys Of Grammyhood

This is a what a normal morning looks like around here...Elek after I have sang "His name is wonderful" a bizillion times and bounced him to sleep. I sit enjoying my morning coffee with him in my arms. Nice way to start the day, don't ya think?

Here are Elek and Xavier actually getting along and quietly watching one of their shows...doesn't happen very often though. Xavier is not into sharing and Ooh, does that boy have a temper...he gets lots of time outs!

This is what the playroom looks like when Elek the disaster strikes. I have never seen a 16 month old trash a house as fast as that boy does. Everything has to be put out of his reach...and everyday when he leaves I put everything back in it's proper place!

Aren't they sweet...so innocent. This is what you will find me doing Monday thru Friday from about 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.. And people think I don't have a job!
But this ol' grammy wouldn't change a thing. For I am helping to shape and mold these precious Grandboys and love them like Jesus. And to me, it is the most rewarding job that I could ever have...don't you agree?

Wecome ...Part Two

Welcome...I promise this will be the end of my tour. Bear with me blog friends...I am just learning to upload, download and transfer images from the digital camera that our girls bought us for Christmas. So, this is my bathroom. Which I thought would be the last photo...but remember I'm just learning!

This is our guest room. The furniture belonged to my Sweet Mom-in-law and is almost 50 years old! There was never any question of what the color scheme would be, since everything in her home was red, white and blue!

This is the place where I lay my head at night...Tomer too. I looked high and low for this bed years ago. I knew what I wanted and would settle for nothing else!

This was once our third bedroom. Tomer decided to knock out the wall and make the Grandbabies their own space..it is the only room with carpet on the floor. Once they are grown it will be ripped out of there! It is also Tomer's trophy room...notice the Deer Head and Turkey Tail feathers decorating the walls?

This is my kitchen... remember the redo was in progess at the beginning of the year? Thank you, this completes our tour. Please come back again! I love company!!!

My Mothers Day Gift

Welcome to my home...Whether it be reading, bouncing Grandbabies to sleep or writing my posts. This is my favorite spot in the house. I have lived here for almost 31 years...God has blessed me with a husband, who serves the Lord with his whole heart, loves his family and is the hardest working man that I know...he has always provided, I have lacked nothing. And he is always there to lend a hand when others need him...he has a servants heart.
Today, on this Mothers Day...I must say that my greatest gift is my husband...the man who leads us by example. Giving God the glory for everything in our lives and telling others that "we are nothing without Jesus who always makes a way for us."
After almost 40 years of marriage, I still feel cherished...everyday as he is loving on our Grandbabies or sitting with our girls laughing or giving free fatherly advice...he is loving me.
Thank you Lord...I am blessed!

National Day Of Prayer

Recognizing that prayer has been and continues to be an integral part of our nation's
history. Congress established a National Day of Prayer in 1952. (the year I was born)

On the 1st Thursday of May, all Americans are encouraged to exercise their religious
freedom by gathering publicly to worship and pray for our land.

Today, Obama chose not to participate. I find this incredibly sad...
Forgive us Lord?

My Favorite Chore

I have been trying to get caught up on my laundry for pretty close to a week now. I seem to almost reach the finish line and WHAM...something happens (life) and it doesn't get touched for a day or two or three. And surprise...I walk into the laundry room and find "a pile, so high a show dog couldn't jump it." Ugh.
To say I love laundry would be a lie. I will scrub everything in sight and enjoy every minute of it! Laundry...not so much.
BUT...I decided instead of murmuring and complaining about Laundrocizing that I will try to tell myself... Just how nice it is to have a Washer & Dryer, running water and yummy smelling detergent and fabric softeners. Why, I even have a stain stick, Oxyclean and good ol' fashioned bleach to get the stains out!
And when I crawl into my bed tonight and slip between freshly laundered sheets...Mmm...I am rich. For many in this world sleep on dirt floors and have not a sheet nor a blanket to cover themselves with. I am sorry Lord.
Forgive me...and help me to be thankful for LAUNDRY.

What's Going On

1. Emilee spent the night...that means that early girl was up at 5a.m...loud moan.

2. Em and I made our favorite homemade waffles, with just a touch of cinnamon.

3. Em, is now floating in the tub and I will shower next. Tomer, the early guy is already showered and ready for the day...Ugh!

4. Have to be at the ball field by Noon...Ian has a game...Go Eman!

5. Make a Pit Stop on the way to the the game at those golden arches for coffee...it is my Tomer's favorite. It's growing on me...hey, this ol' grammy never turns down coffee!

6. Then it's home to laundrocize...my favorite chore!

7. But first, I'd best hit the Family Dollar store for detergent or I will probably run out, before I'm done.

8. Of course, there's always the question...What's for Supper? Honestly, I have no clue...Hmmm.

9. Have a Baby Shower to go to tomorrow...Fun!

10. We (Tomer & I) are beginning a Dave Ramsey class "Financial Peace" It starts tomorrow night at the church...before church at 5:30. (Makes for a long day.) We are not in debt, house is paid for...but Tomer feels we might learn something. Guess we're never too old for that!

Have a blessed weekend!
